Brett Lee hears it when ever he steps onto a New Zealand cricket ground.
It shows that there is a rivalry between the two countrys and that the fans actually care about their own team, as well as respecting the players talent.
But it seems that the English fans are getting to Ricky Ponting a wee bit.
How can the guy that has turned sledging from a touch of friendly banter into full on attacks on a persons character then complain when a passionate crowd has a go at him. (See here)
It should be part of the job he has signed up for shouldn’t it?
If we had crowds that didn’t take a shot at opposing players every now and then, what would passionate supporters be doing.
It is all well and good to have the patrons of bygone era’s sitting in the long room having a glass of chardoney and talking about the old days, but we need these Barmy Armys and Beige Brigades to keep cricket ticking.
If, as Ponting would like, the crowds stop thier chanting and ranting at the opposing teams, we will have lost all passion, and there go the ticket sales with it, and then throw test match cricket in the wheelie bin as well.
Stop being a hipocrite Ricky, next time you play India in Aussie, why not listen to what your own shout at MS Dhoni, I am guessing they aren’t inviting him round for a barbie and some waca in the back yard.
